The Empress is a poetic text written by Lucila Viso in response to her painting series La Période Pourpre (The Purple Period). Inspired by the literature of the Heian period and The Tale of Genji, it accompanies the paintings through a sequence of poetic fragments where memory, absence, contemplation and love intertwine.
